Moab, Utah to Arches National Park to Kodachrome State Park

Ok, we're back and blogging again! The events from this entry occurred last week on Monday, July 13. We are a little behind on updating our blog.

The photo below was taken Monday morning after we packed up our site at the KOA campground in Moab, Utah. This was our first night camping and my first night to realize that when Lindsey said the tent was pretty small she meant it. Not small as in cozy, small as in claustrophobic! There's just enough room for our sleeping pads to squeeze in side-by-side. If either of us ventured off of our designated sleeping pad we would end up on some portion of the other person's body. It made for an interesting night. I may have permanent damage from a knee lodged in my right kidney for approx. 7 hours.

We began our day with a short drive to Arches National Park. We saw this sign just inside the grounds of the park and had to take a picture.

The park was fantastic. There were so many crazy rock formations. This one below is called "Park Avenue."

Lindsey and I in front of "Park Avenue." Lindsey is workin' her Pippi Longstockings impersonation.

Most of the structures we saw this day had particular names attached to them. I'm not sure I remember them all, but this particular picture includes "The Three Gossips" (towards the middle left of the picture) and "The Big Sheep" (middle right of the picture).

The sheep up close and personal...

This one was called "Balancing Rock" or something similar to that. It's hard to remember all the names now that we are posting more than a week later.

Arches, arches, and more arches...

The Delicate Arch...

We took a short walk to a great spot between two rocks. It was shady and sandy between them. The sand was amazingly cool compared to the temperature outside of this little cave area. We tried to take an action shot. As you can see Jennifer and Lindsey +jumping + sand + camera on self-timer = not the best shot.

We decided it might be best to ask a nice stranger to snap a shot. We are standing below one of the many arches we saw that day.

Driving to our next destination, we found some shots to take along the way...

After Arches we drove to our next campsite (at Kodachrome State Park) that would get us close to our 3 destination tour the following day.

Driving into Kodachrome...

The tiny tent below. You can't really tell how small it is until you realize those trees are actually bushes.
