Hiking the Rocky Mountains

We arrived in Longmont, CO after our evening in Boulder and decided to check out the Rocky Mountains the next day. I was thrilled to be able to see snow on the mountains! Colorado kept getting better and better!!

One of the first pictures of the beginning of our 4.5 mile steep hike!

This was our ending point to our hike. The Walker Homestead consisted of one lady who had some farm animals and would hike to town to sell her chicken's eggs. Must have been a solitary, but beautiful place to live.

I hope you appreciate Lindsey's prowess with the self-timer tool on her camera. She managed to set up the camera and get halfway down the hill before the shot. Impressive!!

What an ominous cloud!

As the novice hikers that we are, we forgot about bug spray. After hiking about 25 minutes I began to see a parade of mosquitoes following Lindsey. Thank goodness for the kindness of two hiking strangers. We managed to snag an insect repellant towlette on the way up AND down the mountain. Extra bonus, the towlette puts on the Deet and takes off the dirt!

Mountains, trees, mosquitos, and pictures...

Lots of trick creeks to cross.

What lovely sap you have...

On our way up to Estes Park to check out the cute mountain town, Lindsey, of course, had to stop to take a few dozen photos. :)

We posed for the obligatory "tourist" photo during our second evening in Boulder. (And if you look closely, you will notice that Jenn straightened my hair, a first time event in my life!)

  1. I do love all the photos and commentary, but I'm especially glad you pointed out Lindsey's straightened hair. It looks very cute!
Looks like you are having a wonderful time! Maybe you could write a book about your trip.
