Monday's Walking Tour of San Francisco (20th)

We got up fairly early and ate a great breakfast at Judy's Cafe. Lindsey and I not only make great traveling companions, but also breakfast partners. We enjoyed a great meal of sourdough french toast and garlic egg scramble. Mmmmm. We felt fully fueled for our long day of walking around San Francisco. The weather was quite cool and I don't think it made it quite to 60 the entire day. It was overcast and breezy, perfect for our walking tour!

There were lots of fun houses in unusual colors. Maybe this is an attempt to brighten up the often overcast skies?

Photo of a serious warning sign posted on someone's garage door.

I was navigating us though the town using a little street map. Our first point of interest was the crookedest street, Lombard. We did have a bit of fun getting there.

This is quite the display of efficiency. Why walk one dog when you can walk six? They were all pretty well-behaved and happy.

What a steep hill.

Alcatraz Island looking kind of pretty.

Lindsey trying out the classic "pinch the landmark" game.

You can see our next destination in the top right of this photo, Coit Tower.

If only Meghan had been with us, she would have been able to name that plant.

Here we are at the most crooked street.

Keeping an eye out for interesting shots. I noticed that the street was so steep that we were actually eye level with the bottom of the door. Well, I guess you can figure that out.

These were taken from the top of Coit Tower...

...more shots from Coit Tower...

...Alcatraz from Coit Tower...

Coit Tower again.

Is this the way to Narnia, Aslan?

In our guidebook I read that there were wild flocks of parrots on one of the streets that led from Coit Tower to the water. We heard lots of parrots, but this is the only one we managed to photograph.

The stairs cut a path that was bordered by backyards. It felt like a tropical jungle!

After the stairs we walked by the original Levi's store. There was a big open courtyard with lots of people and music. What a great event for tourists, we thought. As we were helping ourselves to free popcorn we decided to ask what was going on. The response, "You mean you're not Levi's employees?" Oops. We decided to take our popcorn and run. We can say that we didn't continue to help ourselves to the "free" drinks and cookies, just the popcorn. You can see I'm really enjoying myself in the photo above.

San Fransisco, what a great town.

The gate to Chinatown.

After walking at least 7 miles we ended our evening with Mossimo at Via Veneto near our hotel. We had an awesome day, but I think it would have been even better if Mossimo had been with us. He was kind enough to pose for an "action shot."
